Tools For Today & Tomorrow is an extension of Tenth Gate Yoga’s WorkPlace WellBeing Program, established in 2013, which provides stress reduction, mindfulness programming and self-regulation practices to the students, faculty and staff in our local school districts, educational institutions and private clients worldwide.
With the level of stress and anxiety that exists today, very few people have ready-to-use techniques to combat the multitude of life challenges that increasingly disrupt lives. The mission of the Tools For Today & Tomorrow program is to provide the resources that mitigate stress and anxiety. Once learned and incorporated, these tools are a part of a person’s toolbox for life, providing continuously noticeable results.
Since moving in 2022 to Mt. Desert Island, Maine, the Tools program has been establishing new relationships with the local school districts and has formed a fiscal sponsorship with a local non-profit, Healthy Acadia.
Healthy Acadia, over the past 20 years has developed strong relationships across coastal Downeast Maine through its outreach and mission to create healthy communities across many program offerings.
The impact of the The Tools program, during the 2023-2024 school year, was significant. The testimonials from both faculty and students spoke to how sucessful the classes were in reducing their anxiety and stress. This year, the program has expanded to a third school, with all three schools, the high school and two elementary schools, receiving a full year of classes across a wide range of student grade levels that will include faculty and staff. As a result, the number of classes provided will greatly exceed last year’s total.
In continuing the programming for a second year, we have once again raised funds to provide 100% of the classes at no cost. Your donations and the grants we apply for are how the Tools program operates. Healthy Acadia continues to provide fiscal sponsorship to the program and has been very supportive in grant application efforts, as well as with outreach and public relations efforts.
The vision for the Tools program is to develop a team to provide greater programming capabilities and reach further across our area schools. It is abundantly clear that the levels of stress and anxiety are increasing every year, and reducing those levels is critically important for mental health, stability, and success. To grow the program in that direction will require much greater fundraising results. We are beginning that effort already and are grateful for any support you can provide to the Tools program.
Healthy Acadia has set up online access on their donations page specifically for the Tools program Through the link below, you can securely donate to the program. The donation is fully tax deductible.
“The value in this program is multi-faceted. The physical, emotional and mental benefits are measurable and undeniable. Not only does one learn strategies for approaching, navigating and recovering from stress, one also learns to raise self-care nearer to the top of the list of priorities. That alone, is the best thing one can do for oneself.”
Heather, Mount Desert Elementary School Principal
