A dark meditation is about stillness, creating stillness in the mind and body. When we close off the light our eyes stop seeking information, the mind begins to slow down, and the nervous system relaxes tension and stress. Over the course of the hour, you will gradually become more and more still. In the stillness inspiration and guidance can be revealed without the noise and distractions we are bombarded by in every moment.

The dark meditation is done using a good quality eye mask that will block out 100% of any light in your space. We want to be in total darkness for this practice. You can also darken your room as well. Reducing noise will also help create a peaceful environment. Turn off your phone and any other devices not necessary during the meditation. Make your space comfortable to sit for the hour, using props, blankets or a shawl. A notepad or journal is also good to have nearby to record anything from your experience.
